Description: On December 7, 2018 the NOAA Office for Coastal Management concurred that the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council’s (RICRMC's) proposed expansion of the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Program's geographic location description (GLD) constitutes a routine program change and issued its approval for a new GLD and modification of the CRMC’s federal consistency list. Accordingly, federal consistency applies as of December 10, 2018, and the RICRMC is authorized to review federal licenses or permits issued by the Department of the Interior’s Bureau for Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) for (1) any offshore wind facilities of a permanent nature, regardless of size; and (2) underwater cables, for consistency with the State’s enforceable policies of the Ocean Special Area Management Plan.
